Dallas Area Residents for Responsible Drilling (DARRD) – Kick Off Meeting (8/11/2010)
Please join the Dallas Area Residents for Responsible Drilling (DARRD) for our first community meeting on the evening of August 11th at the Southwood Methodist Church in Oak Cliff (near the two drilling request for permit sites).
Why Should I Attend?
Two Special Use Permit (SUP) for gas drilling applications are currently waiting for approval from the Dallas City Council and the city planning commission. If one gets approved, more will get approved. Because of the lack of regulations in the state and across the county, this is an industry run amuck potentially endangering everyone’s health and property values. Contaminated air, land and water are a direct result of this self-regulated industry.
Sharon Wilson: Texas Oil Gas Accountability Project
Cherelle Blazer: Environmental Defense Fund
Calvin Tillman: Mayor of Dish, Texas featured in HBO’s film documentary GASLAND directed by Josh Fox

When: Wednesday, August 11th – 7:00pm
Where: Southwood Methodist Church – 3601 South Ravinia, 75233 (map)
What: Q&A opportunity with local leaders who have been working on North Texas gas drilling issues for a number of years (PDF flyer).
