Tonights the night……
The dialogue begins tonight. Dallas citizens will be given information to take with them regarding the installation of natural gas wells in Dallas county and the city of Dallas. How we got to this point, what everyone needs to know, and what to do next will be discussed.
There does seem to be a “buzz” in the city regarding this subject which is a good thing. Today, the city council spoke of “transparency, communication, and listening to their constituents. We wished they had that attitude back in 2007 when this process began.
But here we are on the eve of a very important period where it’s time for the city of Dallas to become more transparent, open a new dialogue, and listen to their residents. There are genuine fears for health, environmental, and overall “wellness” of our community. There is misinformation from the natural gas industry, a lack of oversight from the state, and a lack of knowledge from the city leaders as to what exactly is involved with the process of drilling amongst the citizenry. The EPA has started many studies as to why the DFW metroplex has one of the highest levels of air pollution in the country. Reports of toxic air from Grand Prairie to Denton abound.
Dallas citizens now have an opportunity to come together with civic leaders and institute healthy living standards while at the same time allow the gas industry to “get the gas” we need as one part of a multi source of energy.
Tonight’s the night. Let the dialogue begin.
