Sweet or Spicy?

Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings is such a great guy he has decided to host a BBQ for the entire Dallas City Council before they begin the new season. The BBQ at Mayor Mike’s Charcoal Grill is scheduled for Tuesday, August 2 from 6:30-8:30 pm.

Trouble is that the Dallas Gas Drilling Task Force is having the first of only two public meetings whereupon the public can come down to City Hall and talk to the task force. You can make comments, you can ask them to investigate whatever you feel is important to the issue. An open dialogue of sorts that is greatly encouraged for a citizens to attend.

But apparently, the city doesn’t think that it’s important enough for the city council or the mayor to attend this meeting. Why would anyone on the council want to attend a meeting with their constituents as an audience member? Why would anyone want to give up chowing down on a spare rib  instead of listening to people cry about the environment, their health?  Is this a case of  Kansas City style vs. Memphis style BBQ?  Or is this really a case of  ‘Dallas style’ ?
