Valley Ranch to get gas drilling as new neighbor courtesy of Dallas

October 20, 2011

Yes, that Valley Ranch. Home of America’s team, YOUR Dallas Cowboys. Home of beautiful homes. beautiful families, and a beautiful lifestyle. That was until last June 9, 2010 when the Dallas City Council voted unaminously to approve a shale gas drill site at the old Northlake power site. The site which sits on the shores of Northlake sits across the street from the Valley Ranch little ‘heaven on earth’. Some will say, ‘hey, that’s Irving!’,  it is except that Dallas annexed the land immediately around the lake. It’s Dallas property now, not Irving. So whatever happens because of Dallas, Irving gets to breathe the emissions, and Dallas gets some a little sumpin sumpin.   24/7

According to the minutes of the meeting, Item #64 former councilman Steve Salazar moved to close the public hearing and councilman Tennell Atkins seconded the motion. Councilwoman Hill was not present, and all members voted to approve. Just like that. No public discussion. Once again, under the radar was the way to ‘git’er done’.

Check out the map below that shows exactly where Dallas is planning on putting the pad site. Look for the BLUE square. There’s more being planned, but those are in RED. If you want to see much more, CLICK HERE.

The Special Use Permit has been approved by the Dallas City Planning Commission, the Dallas City Council and the next step is just the permit and then it’s full speed ahead. Granting that permit could happen this week, next month, at any time without notice. It’s too late for that now. Once the wells are installed, not only will living at Valley Ranch will be more than a lifestyle, drilling will be a lifestyle as well.

Go Cowboys.
