Dallas District 3 Long Time Resident Announces Run for City Council

March 1, 2013

This afternoon, long time District 3 resident Claudia Meyer has filed paperwork to run for the District 3 Dallas City Council seat.  Having been a well known advocate for better neighborhoods, Claudia is a member of the Fox Hollow Homeowners Association and has had seats on the Friends of Mountain Creek Library, Friends of Fox  Hollow Park and the Dallas Municipal Library Board.

Last year when the the new City Council map was unveiled, many residents were surprised and shocked to learn that at the next election cycle, City Council member Scott Griggs would no longer represent their district. The controversial new district lines were redrawn so that Griggs home sat squarely in District 1. Griggs is now challenging District 1 City Council member Delia Jasso for that seat.

About the “new” District 3, Claudia stated, “Scott understands that healthy neighborhoods make a great city. Too often Dallas City Hall is focused on big flashy projects at the expense of everyday issues that impact residents more. We need a bottom-up approach to Dallas’ problems, not a top-down one.”
